It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's definitely A Bird.

SO just like the million cool things I've failed to write about, I saw Andrew Bird live in concert. (For free! Thank you, Star Course.) I saw the Birdman at Foellinger Auditorium - the apex of the University of Illinois's beautiful quad - 12 hours before I had to take my social theory final a few buildings over. Well, I got a B on the exam, but Bird was worth the less-than-perfect score. He didn't top his May 2009 performance in Glasgow (see http://kwanderlust.blogspot.com/2009/05/andrew-bird.html), but he was the best study break I ever will have. Here's a beautiful melody from the man....

And a beautiful interview with the man..... ;)

free margot!

Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos played a free show at Krannert Center this past Thursday. Most free shows last 3 songs, 5 if the artist is generous, but Margot decided to satisfy my soul's craving for a FULL show. They played from quarter to eleven to well after midnight. I don't know too many Margot songs, but I do LOVE As Tall as Cliffs. I was boogieing down with my gal Silvia too much to get a vid of that blissful melody, SO I recorded my second favorite - Skeleton Key - and Silvia's fav, which I'll upload soooooon!

Major pet peeve: not having a GREAT view of a band . . . originally I was waywayway in the back, but I nestled myself a little spot on the stair on the side of the stage. As you can see, the side doesn't make the best photo op, but it does create smiley interactions with cute band members.
